What’s the Future for Electric Vehicles at Your Local Ford Dealer?

Believe it or not, Elon Musk isn’t the only show in town when it comes to producing cutting-edge EVs. The less voluble automakers in North America are steadfastly working on the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) too. The Ford Motor Company may not tweet frenetically about it, but it's certainly rising to meet the EV challenge, with an enticing new inventory of EVs and hybrids already on the market, and more to come.

At McClary Ford, we’re proud to be part of Ford’s EV push, with new hybrid and electrical vehicles already in the inventory at our Athens Ford dealership. As we work toward the EV future, North Alabama Ford drivers should know that we’ll continue to offer them fantastic used and new Fords — the kind that get the job done, whether it’s the school run or a boat tow, and look great doing it.

Does Ford Have Any Fully Electric Cars?

It certainly does. Ford’s fully-electric inventory now includes an SUV, the 2023 MUSTANG MACH-E®, and a truck, the 2023 FORD F-150 LIGHTNING. There are a wealth of hybrid Fords to choose from too.

The availability of EVs varies depending on which Ford dealership you go to. If you’re in the Madison, Huntsville, Athens, or Decatur area, you should check out our new vehicle inventory or just stop by to see us.

If you don't find what you're looking for online, give us a call at 256-262-8718. We'd love to hear from you, and you never know which new Ford EVs might be on their way to us already. At the time of writing (disclaimer: this may well change!), we have two Mustang Mach-E®s in transit to Athens and one on the dealership floor.

And there’s more to come.

Because, under the visionary leadership of Ford CEO Jim Farley, the company has set itself a global capacity target of building 600,000 Ford EVs by the end of 2023. Not only that, but it will produce 2 million electric Fords by the end of 2026. Ford drivers will clearly will be setting the trend over the next few years in EV automotive.

Driving the Electric Vehicle Revolution on Lithium Batteries

Ford Motor Company is ensuring it delivers on its EV production promises, as demonstrated by its shiny new partnerships with Albemarle Corp and Nemaska Lithium, among others. With these new contracts, Ford has secured an enviably reliable source of lithium hydroxide, which is a crucial component in lithium-ion batteries.

But why is this good news for electric Ford drivers?

Well, so far, north America's automakers have had to compete to get enough battery materials to make electric cars. Lithium is good at storing a lot of energy in a small space, so it makes EV batteries compact and powerful. With lithium batteries, electric vehicles can go long distances without needing to stop and recharge as often.

Now that Ford has a guaranteed lithium supply, it knows it has enough to produce around 3 million batteries and is well-positioned to meet the surge in EV demand.

Where Can I Find EV Charging Stations Near Me?

The first question from anyone who comes in to look at an electric Ford is usually: Where is there public charging in North Alabama? Luckily, we can tell them that they have multiple options.
